The Mindscreen Experience, which fits into the PSE/PSHE curriculum in either S1/S2,
depending on student timetable for subject choice, starts with all students answering Internet based online questionnaires.
These generate individual personal development profiles, delivered to schools ready to use with the Mindscreen Experience Diary materials.
PSE/Guidance teachers and others, trained in their use and interpretation, help
students to interpret their personal development profiles and make use of the information and learning in their Experience
Diaries.
The Mindscreen Experience has been well received in schools, is delivered prior to
subject choice and involves, teachers, students, parents and carers in a supportive programme to develop the self-esteem,
self-confidence and self-awareness of each student.
The Mindscreen Experience Diary includes nine interactive lessons each of between
45-55 minutes, to be delivered once a week, in sequence, by trained school staff, currently within the PSE/PSHE curriculum.
The sessions build up a unique, positive picture for each student of their
achievements, strengths, values and goals while providing them with the opportunity to develop and practise valuable
life skills such as communication, teamwork and presentation skills.
Each Teacher Pack includes a copy of the Experience Diary and Teacher Guidance
Notes for each session or lesson. These detailed teacher notes include information on what preparation is required, the
order of the session and learning activities/exercises.
A “Home Pack” is delivered to parents/carers and is designed to help parents/carers
guide their child at subject choice time and better understand and positively relate with their child.
Pioneering teaching staff who are members of the Inclusive Curriculum Development
Council (ICDC) have contributed toward the language, tone and content of the nine Mindscreen Experience Diary modules.
Teaching staff receive 8 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
training and learn useful tips to help them plan and deliver the nine exciting, interactive and fun lessons building
student self-awareness and confidence.
